"Though the script and most of the performances are laudable, the set design by Carey Wong is an equal factor in the success of 'Addy.'Wong brings us into Addy's reality with fascinating photo-projections of real Philadelphia streets and buildings. And the interiors he has designedincluding the dress shop where Addy and her mother find workare like beautiful dollhouses come to life.
Rick Paulsen's lighting complements Wong's outstanding work. And the costumes of Melanie Taylor Burgesswhich range from ragged garments to hoop-skirted gownsare an utter delight as well."

"This 'Magic Flute' is . . . a hugely appealing show, with brisk pacing, striking visuals, several fine performances and, where appropriate, tongue firmly in cheek. . . . Designer Carey Wong put together a terrific package of sets and costumes. The main area of the stage consisted of five platforms joined by ramps and sets of stairs, which abetted Brenda Nuckton's fluid direction. Elements of itparticularly the simple but elegant scheme of stars on a blue backgroundechoed late Matisse. The costumes looked like re-imaginings of Japanese court dress by the same artist."

"Directed with great sensitivity by artistic director David Bartholomew, the production sets a new standard of excellence for Tacoma Opera. Newly installed music director Benton Hess conducts the vastly improved orchestra with sweep and passion; Carey Wong's authentic set graces the stage with visual elegance; Sue Surdam Bean's costume designs arrest the eye; and . . . Bill Forrester's lighting captures each mood."

"The Carey Wong-designed set at Theatre on the Square is sumptuously appointed, and it's a marvel as its room-within-a-stage slides on and off. This is easily the most intriguing, most imaginative (and possibly most expensive) set seen yet at the new TAG, and it looks great here."
